RE: The tariff classification of stainless steel blades from Sweden.

Dear Mr. Widman:

In your letter dated October 28, 2007, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The samples which you submitted were examined and disposed of.

The item is described as a super stainless steel Aeterna blade, product number 191704. It is a 0.15 mm double edged blade that is cut diagonally in half. There will be 200 blades packaged within each imported box. The blades will be used in a furrier’s knife for slicing and cutting pelts.

The applicable subheading for the blades will be 8211.94.5000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for knives with cutting blades, serrated or not (including pruning knives), other than knives of heading 8208, and blades and other base metal parts thereof: other: blades: other. The duty rate will be 1¢ each + 5.4% ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
